SUMMARY:Private investors are ready to invest in community housing. Are you ready?
DESCRIPTION:As community housing organizations take on ambitious development\, acquisition\, and retrofit projects\, many are being asked to navigate a more complex financing landscape. While public investment remains essential to achieving deep affordability\, today’s projects often require multiple funding sources\, including mission-aligned private investment capital. \nSo how can nonprofit and co-operative housing providers prepare for these conversations? What does it mean to be investment-ready? And what do investors look for before committing capital to a project? \nJoin us for a practical discussion with Lena Courcol\, Director of acquisitions\, and Garth Davis\, Managing partner at New Market Funds\, one of Canada’s leading impact investment organizations. We will explore what community housing providers can do to prepare for new opportunities. Participants will gain a better understanding of how to talk with private lenders\, what makes a project attractive to investors\, how mission-aligned lenders assess risk\, impact\, governance\, and financial sustainability\, and why promising projects sometimes struggle to secure financing. The discussion will also explore the organizational foundations that support successful capital conversations\, from board alignment and financial literacy to long-term planning. \nModerated by Stephan Richard\, Director of development at the Centre\, this session will explore key questions: \n\nWhat investment-readiness means and why it matters for community housing organizations.\nHow mission-aligned investors evaluate projects\, balancing financial sustainability with social impact.\nPractical steps organizations\, boards\, and leadership teams can take to prepare before approaching investors.\nHow to build the knowledge\, confidence\, and credibility needed to engage effectively with investment partners.\n\nWhether your organization is considering its first major development\, acquisitions\, expanding its portfolio\, or planning future growth\, this webinar will provide practical insights to help you better understand today’s financing environment and assess your organization’s readiness for serious capital conversations. \nNote: This webinar will be offered in both English and French through simultaneous interpretation.
