The Nova Scotia Community Housing Capital Fund (NS-CHCF) provides capital grants for the acquisition of affordable housing buildings. It aims to increase the community housing stock in Nova Scotia, preserve affordable rents, and prevent tenant eviction.
The fund also supports eligible organizations in obtaining funding, including through the Community Housing Acquisition Program (CHAP) and other financial institutions. It was created by the Government of Nova Scotia in collaboration with the Centre.
Available funding stream
The NS-CHCF offers a non-renewable capital grant to help community housing providers acquire multiplex residential buildings of at least five units intended for sale.
Eligibility criteria
Eligible community housing organizations in Nova Scotia include:
- Non-profit housing organizations
- Housing cooperatives
- Experience in asset acquisition and management
The prequalification process must be completed before applying for funding.
