Nunalingni Piruqpaalirut Fund for housing in Nunavut

The Nunalingni Piruqpaalirut Fund (NPF) provides financial support to community housing organizations as a means of strengthening the housing sector in Nunavut. Its objective is to:

  • Increase the number of affordable housing units
  • Reduce homelessness
  • Optimize resources to develop the sector

It was created in partnership with the Nunavut Housing Corporation (NHC), as part of the Nunavut 3000 strategic plan.

Available funding streams

Capacity building

Support for projects aiming to develop the skills and abilities of community housing organizations. This stream promotes organizational growth and transformation.

Planning and pre-development

Support to cover the costs of pre-development project activities related to the construction of affordable community housing and to remove barriers to access capital and federaladditional funding. This assistance can fund activities such as business plans, preliminary studies, building permits, risk analyses, and professional services.

Research and innovation

Support for initiatives that encourage innovation, education, and knowledge transfer within the community housing sector.

Eligibility criteria

Eligible Nunavut community housing organizations include:

  • Non-profit housing organizations
  • Housing cooperatives
  • Non-profit organizations
  • Community/regional groups and coalitions
  • Municipalities
