Here are the answers to the most frequently asked questions.
How much funding is available?
The NL-CHGF has a total of $1.25 million available to support projects over a one-year period. To read the Minister Responsible for the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation and Minister of Children, Seniors and Social Development joint statement about it, click here.
Why does the Community Housing Transformation Centre manage the program?
The Community Housing Transformation Centre (the Centre) is a national not-for-profit organization specializing in providing support and funding to the community housing sector across Canada. It has extensive expertise backed by tailor-made IT and administrative tools that enable efficient and secure grant allocation and management. Since its opening, the Centre has consistently proven its ability to assess and allocate funds within a very short timeframe to increase the capacity of co-operative and non-profit housing organizations to deliver their services to the populations they serve.
The Centre is contributing $250,000 to the fund.
Who will select the proposals to receive the grants?
Each application will undergo an in-depth review by one of the Centre’s program managers. The NL-CHGF selection committee will then make the final decisions regarding all eligible project proposals.
The selection committee consists of two representatives from the Newfoundland and Labrador Housing Corporation, one Centre representative, and two representatives from the province’s community housing sector, or individuals with relevant knowledge, experience and expertise.
