From house to home: Safe spaces for us all

This is the final report of a participatory research project that focused on identifying gaps in service for Indigenous people who are transitioning from their home communities to living in the city. This report finds that Indigenous people move to the city for new employment, educational opportunities, and medical reasons. It also finds that Indigenous people’s transition experience varies significantly depending on whether they already have family connections in the city.

The report concludes with recommendations to address these gaps and barriers. In the project’s next phase, the findings from this report will be used to develop community-led and managed resources and tools, particularly in relation to good-quality housing.
