[Issue 3] The Landlord and Tenant Board or Court – Community Housing Transformation Centre – Centre de transformation du logement communautaire

[Issue 3] The Landlord and Tenant Board or Court

The new eviction system for housing co-ops was implemented on June 1, 2014, bringing changes to the Co-operative Corporations Act and the Residential Tenancies Act. Under the new law, most evictions are now handled by the Landlord and Tenant Board after the co-op’s internal process is completed. The educational series “Evictions: What co-ops need to know” is an educational series to help Ontario co-ops understand and work with the new eviction system. This issue examines when the Landlord and Tenant Board handle an eviction and when an eviction is dealt with through the courts.
Topics include: Landlord and Tenant Board, Court, housing co-op, eviction, legal representation
