[Issue 5] Who can represent the co-op at the LTB? – Community Housing Transformation Centre – Centre de transformation du logement communautaire

[Issue 5] Who can represent the co-op at the LTB?

The new eviction system for housing co-ops was implemented on June 1, 2014, bringing changes to the Co-operative Corporations Act and the Residential Tenancies Act. Under the new law, most evictions are now handled by the Landlord and Tenant Board (LTB) after the co-op’s internal process is completed. The educational series “Evictions: What co-ops need to know” is a series to help Ontario co-ops understand and work with the new eviction system. This issue examines the representation of co-ops at LTB hearings and is based on the interpretation of Law Society rules provided by the legal counsel of the Ontario Region.
Topics include: co-op representation, Landlord and Tenant Board, LTB hearing, non-lawyer agents, paralegals
