The National Housing Council provides an overview of Review panels, which are a new participatory human-rights based accountability mechanism established under the _National Housing Strategy Act (NHS Act)_. The Federal Housing Avocate through the NHS can request that the National Housing Council establish a review panel on systemic housing issues.
The panels must: hold a hearing to review the housing issue, offer the public and members of the communities affected the opportunity to participate, prepare a report to inform of the panel’s opinion on the issue and their recommendations, and submit the report to the Minister of Housing.
Topics include: systemic issues in housing decisions, Federal Housing Advocate, participation in housing, collaborative approach to housing solutions.
