NOVEMBER
Parce que l’avenir nous habite – RQOH
5 – 6 November – Hôtel le Concorde, Québec, QC
The symposium “Parce que l’avenir nous habite” is a major event in Quebec, bringing together community housing players, speakers, and institutional and government partners. It features plenary sessions, presentations on best practices in real estate development, training workshops and guided tours. This biennial event is a unique opportunity to network and share knowledge.
Project manager Luc Labelle will introduce the PLANCHER fund, while Kathrine Lapalme will present the Regional Energy Coaching program, in collaboration with the GMF.
During the conference, the PLANCHER Fund will hold its founding general assembly on November 4th – same venue, attendance on-site and online. Registration
Miramichi Regional Housing Forum
November 5-7, Miramichi, New-Brunswick
The forum will focus on three key areas, namely private development, nonprofit housing, and senior housing.
Kerri Flemming, Program Manager Newfoundland and Labrador, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick will represent the Centre.
2024 ONPHA Conference – Building Bridges
7-9 November, Shaw Centre and Westin, Ottawa, ON
This ONPHA conference aims to foster inclusive and sustainable housing solutions through strategic partnerships, offering sessions on innovative solutions, networking opportunities, and professional development for the affordable housing sector.
The Centre will be at the trade show, and Teresa Guillem, RentSmart Manager at the Centre, will present the RentSmart program.
BC Housing Central Conference
November 18 – 20, Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre Hotel, Vancouver, BC
The annual Housing Central Conference, in collaboration with the Aboriginal Housing Management Association and the Co-operative Housing Federation of BC, is Canada’s leading professional development event for the community housing sector. It features keynote speakers, educational sessions, tradeshow exhibitors, and special events over three days, fostering knowledge sharing, idea exchange, and inspiration.
The Centre sponsors the event, will present the RentSmart program, and host a workshop on the 20% goal for the community housing sector.

Nova Scotia Housing Symposium
November 18 – Halifax Central Library, Halifax NS
The Nova Scotia Nonprofit Housing Association, United Way Halifax and partners gather for a day of learning, sharing and networking with people focused on housing solutions and ending homelessness.
Our Communications Director François Fayad will present an analysis of the Nova Scotian community housing sector based on the Organizational Compass.
Dwayne Wright and Amanda Knight, both Program Managers for Nova Scotia, are going to present the Community Housing Growth Fund and the Community Housing Capital Fund.
National Housing Day
November 22 – Ken Seiling Waterloo Region Museum, Kitchener, ON and online
This event will highlight the efforts of direct service providers who assist individuals and families in finding and maintaining housing.
Scott Stager Piatkowski, Program manager Ontario will attend.
Session on Financing Solutions for Atlantic Community Housing
November 22 – online
Join an info session for Atlantic Canada’s non-market housing providers on innovative financing models. Davis Pier and the Centre, with regional housing associations, are exploring new ways to expand housing inspired by Quebec’s PLANCHER model.
Housing on the Hill – Canadian Housing & Renewal Association
November 26 – Delta Hotel, Ottawa
Housing on the Hill brings together housing professionals and Parliamentarians to discuss critical issues in the social and non-profit housing sector. The event includes meetings with MPs and Senators, advocacy training sessions, and an all-party political panel.
Participants will also have opportunities to engage with senior national housing leaders and officials
Lisa Ker, Executive Director at the Centre, and Dawn Campbell, Development Manager for Ontario, will be present.
Northern Ontario public launch of the Rural Housing Information System (RHIS)
27 November – online
Rural Housing Information System (RHIS) is a locally driven tool supporting municipalities, developers, and homebuilders in the planning and development of affordable housing. It aims to support not-for-profit builders in overcoming information barriers regarding housing in rural communities.
Resource inventory manager Jaimie Cudmore will attend the event.
Looking ahead to 2025
HSC Regeneration Forum – New Approaches to Transform Housing
27, 28 February 2025 – Westin Harbour Castle, Toronto
After a six-year break, the Regeneration Forum returns to inspire and inform Canada’s housing sector, focusing on expanding housing stock, and addressing diverse needs, with interactive sessions and a development simulation game.

Past events
2024 CLT Summit – Canadian Network of Community Land Trusts
October 18 –20 312 Main, Vancouver
The CLT Summit, Canada’s largest community land trust gathering, will feature panel discussions, workshops, tours, and more, with over 200 delegates attending. This is the second annual conference, following 2023’s Toronto event.
Program Manager for BC, Nunavut, NWT, and Yukon Alex Wolf, and Development Manager Joseph Daniels, will attend the conference.
Several Black-led CLTs from Nova-Scotia supported by the Centre will give presentations and will take part in panel discussions.
2024 ATLANTIC SUMMIT
October 19, Best Western Dartmouth, Dartmouth NS
The Atlantic Summit focuses on cooperative housing education, offering workshops and networking opportunities for housing co-op members and staff. It aims to enhance skills, share best practices, and address challenges in the cooperative housing sector. The event promotes collaboration and knowledge exchange among participants.
Amanda R. Knight, and Dwayne Wright, Program Managers Nova-Scotia will be present at the Centre’s booth.
MNPHA’s 12th Annual building partnerships conference
October 21 -22 – Keystone Center, Brandon, MB
The Centre is happy to sponsor Manitoba’s Non-Profit Housing Association (MNPHA) second conference in Brandon, focusing on housing solutions in Manitoba’s smaller and rural communities. Speakers will share insights on protecting, renewing, and expanding non-profit housing across the province.

CAEH’s National Conference on Ending Homelessness
October 29 to 31 – Shaw Center, Ottawa, ON
The program features over 85 sessions led by hundreds of experts from around the world, attracting up to 2,000 participants from Canada and beyond. Topics include campaign and advocacy, reconciliation, and indigenous homelessness, as well as responses to unsheltered homelessness, and youth and women’s homelessness.
On October 30th, the Centre’s Executive Director Lisa Ker will participate in a panel discussion on capacity building from 3:30pm to 5pm, hosted by the CMHC.
