It is that time of year again when we prepare for the holiday season. As we picture the tables that we’ll gather at by the fireplaces in our homes, we also reflect on what we have accomplished and what is still left for us to achieve in terms of housing for all. We take the time to remind ourselves of the difference between a house and a home. We know it is essential to have housing, but having a home allows us to face life’s challenges with a more serene perspective.
We are proud and grateful to have worked with our partners to ensure that more Canadians have access to a home. We salute the commitment and essential work of all the players in the sector working toward this goal.
If our organization had one wish for the end of the year, it would be that community housing be a desirable housing model for all. Community housing should occupy at least 20% of the country’s rental market, and we propose to achieve this by leveraging our resources to fund innovative initiatives that can strengthen the entire housing system. By working together, this is something we could achieve.
The Centre’s team will spare no effort. We will continue to strive to transform the sector to make it more sustainable, innovative, and inclusive. We will enthusiastically do our part in ensuring that the coming years bring the warmth of home for all.
Please accept our warmest wishes on behalf of the entire team at the Centre.
** Kindly note that the Centre will be closed from Monday, December 18 to Tuesday, January 2 **
