Webinar: Tools and tactics for navigating housing predevelopment – The Phoenix Experience

About: The Centre, in collaboration with Phoenix Youth Programs, invites you to join a webinar designed to share knowledge and lessons learned from two grant-funded projects addressing youth homelessness and housing insecurity in the Halifax Regional Municipality. Designed to support other organizations and communities interested in pursuing similar initiatives, the webinar will explore key aspects of the project process including factors in site identification, setting a common vision, designing committees, risk analysis, and space considerations.

Affordable Housing Symposium

About: As part of Housing Month, the City of Edmonton is hosting a one-day Affordable Housing Symposium that brings together leaders, innovators, and practitioners to explore bold, practical solutions to today’s housing challenges.

Centre’s attendance:

  • Lisa Ker, executive director, will deliver the keynote address From bold ideas to real change: Unlocking innovation in affordable housing to inspire the sector to move beyond short-term fixes, sharing bold, practical examples of innovative affordable housing solutions and how they can be scaled to create lasting impact. Nov. 19 at 9:15 a.m.
  • Stephan Richard, director of development, will participate in the panel Unlocking innovation through funding and resources, alongside program leaders. The discussion will explore how programs are leveraging resources, grants, and land strategies to help housing providers test new ideas and scale solutions. Nov. 19 at 13:30 p.m.

Yes, in my backyard: Breaking down barriers and building community

Organizer: Greater Miramichi Service Commission
Date: November 26–27
Location: Miramichi, N.B.

About: The Greater Miramichi Service Commission (GMSC) is hosting its third Annual Housing Forum, bringing together developers, non-profits, senior housing providers, government, and community partners to explore housing sector opportunities and challenges. The forum will focus on private development, non-profit and senior housing, rural development, navigating legislation, funding programs, and addressing NIMBYism.

Housing on the Hill

Organizer: Canadian Housing and Renewal Association

Location: Parliament Hill, Ottawa

About: Annual event organized by CHRA to facilitate meetings between housing professionals and Parliamentarians and discuss issues of importance to the non-profit housing sector.
