Details on the process
The Plancher initiative
Plancher (Planification communautaire d’habitation, expansion et résilience, or community-based housing planning, expansion and resilience) is a consultation process that aims to identify projects capable of having a major impact on the housing sector in Quebec.
This collaborative process has involved more than 150 organizations working in social and community housing or with people with housing needs.
The discussions have led to a consensus: we need to change the scale of our action, and the way to do so is through mutualization.
The Centre’s financial commitment
The Quebec community housing sector is one of the best-structured in Canada and we believe it is ripe for projects of unprecedented scale. That’s why the Centre has decided to fund the Plancher project with money dedicated for Quebec from the sectoral impact component of its Transformation Fund. More than one million dollars will be invested in the resulting project.
Proposals generated through Plancher
Seven proposals have emerged from our joint efforts. Based on the analysis of the proposals and input from the sector, the Centre has come up with the idea of building a social and community housing ecosystem. [link to anchor in /plancher that leads to the ecosystem presentation]
These proposals were selected based on:
- Transformative potential for the sector
- Ability to mobilize sector organizations
- Innovation
- Ability to engage external partners
