We are seeking an experienced and proactive Manager, Human Resources to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HR management, particularly with experience in union environments, and will be responsible for supporting our HR functions as we grow and evolve. This position will be crucial in streamlining HR processes and enhancing our workplace culture.
Reports to: Director of operations.
Salary: $84,787.00 per year (including benefits, sick time, and holiday closures) with a $5000.00 increase after a 6-month probation period.
Key responsibilities:
Recruitment & hiring:
- Collaborate with the Director of Operations to identify hiring needs and filter candidates using platforms such as LinkedIn.
- Conduct interviews and participate in the selection process.
Training & onboarding:
- Oversee training programs and onboarding processes in collaboration with our Executive Assistant to ensure a smooth transition for new hires.
HR Operations:
- Assist in managing and delegating HR-related administrative tasks currently handled by Executive Assistants, including onboarding documentation and meeting coordination.
- Participate in aligning job descriptions and contributing to the development of new HR policies, alongside the existing employee handbook currently under staff review.
Employee relations:
- Foster a positive workplace culture and support employee engagement initiatives.
- Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, benefits, and conflict resolution.
Union management:
- Work collaboratively with bargaining units in Quebec and Ontario, ensuring compliance with collective agreements and fostering strong labour relations.
Compliance & policy development:
- Collaborate with the Director of operations in developing and implementing new HR policies and procedures in alignment with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Support the SOC 2 certification process in collaboration with IT and administrative personnel.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of HR experience, with a focus on recruitment, training, and employee relations.
- Strong experience working with unions, particularly in Quebec and Ontario.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Demonstrated initiative, a team-oriented mindset, and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in both English and French is a must.
- Familiarity with HR software and tools is a plus.
