On June 18th, the Centre held its annual general meeting, where the 2025–2026 Annual Report was presented.
The 2025–2026 year marked a significant turning point for community housing in Canada. As outlined in this year’s report, the sector is being called upon to play a far more structuring role in responding to the housing crisis, moving beyond the preservation of existing stock to become a lasting pillar of Canada’s housing system.
“The challenge is no longer simply about delivering projects. It is about building the conditions necessary for the sector to develop, preserve, and manage housing at a scale that finally reflects the magnitude of the need,” said Lisa Ker, Executive Director, and Michelle Cooper-Iversen, Board President, in a joint statement. This vision of building a national support infrastructure for community housing was the driving force behind the Centre’s work throughout the year, advancing a collective ambition to increase the sector’s contribution to Canada’s housing supply.
In a context marked by growing momentum toward the long-term goal of achieving 20% community housing in Canada, the Centre’s initiatives have continued to strengthen the sector’s capacity for growth. Through its various funds, including the Sector Transformation Fund, Green Kickstarter Fund, and regional growth funds, the Centre invested near $17 million dollars in organizational development, project planning, and sector-wide solutions from coast to coast.
